Hello everyone! My name is Jay Schneiderman. I am a 5th grade teacher in Sheffield Lake, Ohio. I have been teaching there since 2008. This year marks my 3rd year as a co-teacher. The intervention specialist and myself have the same group of students all day and we teach language arts, science, social studies, and math. This year will be a very challenging year. Besides implementing the new Common Core Standards and the Ohio Teachers Evaluation System, my school purchased new science, social studies, and math curriculum. I will be very busy becoming familiar with our new programs.
I enjoy finding new ways to integrate technology into my classroom. The new science, social studies, and math programs each have an online portion as part of the program. Unfortunately, my building has not received the online portions as of yet. I am lucky enough to have other types of technologies at my disposal. Those technologies can be found on the NETS-T Pre-Admission Competency Verification page. I am excited to learn about new technologies that other classmates are using in their schools, and to improve upon the ways I currently use the technologies at my school. Here you will find my module reflections for my Introduction to Instructional Technology class. These reflections will follow the following format.
1. Description. Briefly describe your experiences (class activities, reading assignment, your school or job experiences). Do this in a descriptive rather than a judgmental way (merely record events without editorializing or agreeing or disagreeing). Make connections.
2. Impact. Tell what you have learned (or confirm what you had already believed, or how what you have learned differs from what you believed). How do you feel about what you learned?
3. Intent. Make a statement about what you intend to do as a result of your learnings and feelings. BE SPECIFIC! Phrase this in a personal and positive way ("what I will do is . . ." rather than "what I won't do is . . .").
